The Opportunity

We are looking for a Underwriting Assistant, working in the Insurance industry in Warrenville, Illinois, United States.

  • Is responsible for detailed surety bond/agency/processing transactions for one or more surety product lines or functional areas, which may align to a defined territory. May include; entering rates and new business, renewals, cancellations, endorsements, reinstatement, agency file set-up, licensing/appointment processing, power-of-attorney issuance, and resolving reconciliation problems as necessary
  • Reviews, reconciles, and updates reports as required
  • Provides assistance in various underwriting and support functions (i.e. contract/commercial bond and bid requests, bid entry, bid results, state regulatory and compliance requirements, and work-in-progress schedules)
  • Assists customers with inquiries, answers questions and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Informs Bond Manager/Underwriting Officer, and/or designee of issues as appropriate
  • Retrieves information relative to the execution of various bond /agency related documents with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Performs general administrative office support duties, which also may include assisting finance with collections inquiries and billing/premium discrepancies
  • Acts as a resource for workflows and processes, which may include processing transactions, reinsurance, assumed and ceded transactions. May perform technical support within the office and assists in the resolution of problems in coordination with Department Applications Specialists
  • Participates in User Acceptance Testing as assigned

The pay we are offering is 26 per hour. This position may present an opportunity to go permanent.

Experience Required for Your Success
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior Surety Underwriting Support experience with an understanding of surety rating and processing functions preferred
  • Strong PC skills, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
