We're looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator, working in the Electric Power & Natural Gas industry in San Antonio, Texas, United States.
Administer database technology and systems responsible for backup, recovery, server architecture, performance tuning, security, auditing, metadata management, optimization, statistics, capacity planning, connectivity and other data solutions of mission critical database systems.
Develop databases with SQL, stored procedures, triggers, transactional modelling, dimensional modelling, normalization, indexing methods, constraints and object usage.
Build and maintain the ongoing operational functionality and efficiency of energy databases ensuring system performance, availability, reliability, security, recoverability and efficient usage of server infrastructure resources.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve database related issues including storage, performance, availability, data integrity and database security.
Perform and automate database management, maintenance and data processing activities.
Apply understanding of modern networks and operating systems as they pertain to database system architecture and functionality.
Perform as technology subject matter expert for relational database management systems such as MS SQL Server 2008 and 2012.
Modify existing databases and database management systems or directs programmers and analysts to make changes with appropriate database objects such as indexes, tables, partitions, triggers, constraints, stored procedures, large objects, views.

Experience Required for Your Success
Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, and Computer Science or related field from an accredited university.
Experience as a MS SQL Server Database Administrator.
Basic understanding working with relational databases, data structures and/or database management systems.
Basic knowledge of performing performance analysis and resource utilization of systems.
Basic experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
Basic knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
Basic experience with changes, upgrades, and enhancements are made based on technical analysis.
Basic experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
Basic experience and knowledge in migrating code and database changes through the various stages of the development life cycle.
Basic troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
The pay range we're offering is 50 - 57 per hour. This position may present an opportunity to go permanent.
