The Opportunity

We're looking for a Legal Assistant, working in the Electric Power & Natural Gas industry in San Antonio, Texas, United States.

  • Responsible for a variety of secretarial, administrative and clerical duties for one or more attorneys.
  • Compose routine correspondence, type and file general correspondence and legal documents.
  • Manage attorneys' workflow and filing.
  • Exercise effective judgment in the performance of duties and in interaction with the public and with client representatives.
  • Maintain and promote professional and cordial working relationships both internally as well as with individuals, organizations and agencies outside of the company, including outside counsel offices, other law offices, local, state and federal regulators, and city offices and agencies, etc.
  • Maintain familiarity with legal library resources and locate cases using standard citations, statutes or research material. 
  • Maintain tickler system for deadlines, documents, filings and assist in ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Notarize legal documents as needed.

Experience Required for Your Success
  • Class C Texas Driver's License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, reading comprehension, and active listening
  • Knowledge of legal forms and formats sufficient to prepare orders and decisions and to compose general correspondence
  • Knowledge of general office policies and procedures for legal case management system
  • Knowledge of legal terminology sufficient to prepare and/or understand judicial orders, decisions and correspondences
  • Proficient in accessing legal authorities either in hard copy form or in electronic format using commonly available legal resources

The pay range we're offering is 28 - 30 per hour. This position may present an opportunity to go permanent.
