The Opportunity

We're looking for a Telecom Technician, working in the Electric Power & Natural Gas industry in Covington, Kentucky, United States.

  • Assists telecommunications technicians to complete the installation, programming, testing, and maintenance of various types of telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Utilizes skill sets with a multitude of specialized test and operational equipment specifically geared for major RF Systems, Fiber Systems, High-Speed Data Networks and Large DC Power Plant Systems.
  • Reads and understands project installation instructions.
  • Confers directly with Engineering and/or Project Managers on project details and related issues.
  • Assists with install, test, and turn-up equipment/systems.
  • Communicates with TOC and Customers before performing installation work that may cause outages or system alarms.
  • Communicates project status to management and any problems encountered the project instructions, equipment, or system with Engineering.
  • Assists with performing real-time analysis to ensure that installed equipment meets the conceptual and tactical designs requirements. 
  • Makes real-time adjustments to conceptual and tactical designs based on existing status if installed infrastructure.

The pay range we are offering is 32 to 34 per hour. This position may present an opportunity to go permanent.

Experience Required for Your Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, information technology, or another related field
  • 8 years’ experience in the installation/maintenance of telecommunication networks and equipment.
  • Proven trouble-shooting skills.
  • Understanding of Data, Fiber Optics, Microwave, Wireless, and Voice Networks and proven ability to maintain and install these systems and associated equipment.
  • Ability to use various telecommunications test equipment to assist with problem resolution and equipment installation.
