The Opportunity


  • Perform customer and field activities related to phone calls, billing, adjustments, collections and/or shut off of customer accounts.
  • Act as liaison between departments and customers as needed.
  • Process meter reading upload as defined by meter reading schedule – review and work high/low errors or other billing related to do's.
  • Review meter reading reports – search for meter reader comments such as house now occupied, pit covered.
  • Review and process non-billed accounts.
  • Review and take appropriate action on consumption on inactive accounts.
  • Review and process diverted bills.
  • Process and maintain meter related and customer account records; including, but not limited to, field order management (Clevest), to do's, Hi Lows, zero consumption, consecutive estimate reports.
  • Prepare and prove out daily cash receipts.
  • Prepare deposit for the same.
  • Prepare daily cash report and calls out balances from appropriate banks.
  • Prepare daily cash transmittals.
  • Process wire transfer.
  • Accept and process counter payments.
  • Process payments diverted by lock box vendor.
  • Respond to walk in customer inquires.
  • Investigate misapplied payments.
  • Process special journal entries.
  • Schedule and complete all billing and meter related field activities; such as, but not limited to final readings, high bill investigations, meter changes, special reads, meter sets, meter removals, reading equipment installations and removals.
  • Process cancel and rebill.
  • Update customer account information or any related records in the company's systems.
  • Respond to all customer inquiries; via phone, in person, email, portal or from other company system; i.e. account balances, budget billing, rates/penalties assessed.
  • Work with customers to schedule payment plans/arrangements.
  • Respond to customer written inquiries.
  • Assign meter reading order to new accounts.
  • Create, process and separate meter sheets from a given schedule.
  • Print and burst urgent notices.
  • Receive, sort and distribute mail received from Post Office.
  • Assist in special projects as assigned by the Customer Service Manager or management.

Experience Required for Your Success

  • High School diploma
  • 1-3 years minimum customer service experience
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft
  • Knowledge in windows based application (Customer, Care & Billing)
  • Computer literate
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communications ability
