Salary Range: $105,000-$115,000/year

As an Assistant Portfolio Controller you will:

  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements and supporting schedules prepared by Property Accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Property and Senior Accountants, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Oversee property cash analyses, Replacement Reserve draws, and various bank reconciliations to maintain financial health across the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with auditors and review audit workpapers, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of annual budgets, working closely with the Transition team on property onboarding and disposition processes.

Experience Required for Your Success

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting preferred; CPA license and public/private accounting background a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in residential or commercial real estate, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Thorough understanding of full-cycle accounting transactions and experience with preparing audited financial statements
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with RealPage, Yardi, or similar general ledger software preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and provide mentorship to team members
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
