Description
We're looking for a Residential Childcare Counselor– English and Bilingual, English and Spanish, working in Healthcare Systems and Services industry in Pasadena, California, United States.As a Childcare Counselor in our residential facility, you will supervise and protect children individually and within groups. Your empathy, maturity, emotional intellect, and temperament will help each child develop at their own capacity for self-control while you guide each child to develop tools for success. You will strive in helping each child acquire socially acceptable habits of behavior, appearance as you guide them in developing improved personal relationships.
What your day looks like as a Childcare Counselor at Hillsides:
- You will participate as a team member in the development of individual childcare plans directed toward return of the child to his own home or appropriate placement.
- Under the guidance of the teacher, you will assist with all classroom instruction, ensuring the child retains the knowledge to guide them in good decision-making skills.
- By providing each child with integrated training, you will strengthen their social, behavioral and emotional control skills acceptable in daily interactions.
- Using your expertise with organizing events, you will create and participate in engaging activities to strengthen the confidence in each child while preparing them to transition out of residential care. These activities could include meals, recreation, art and music appreciation, dancing and camping, therapeutic sports, games and exercise.
How you will be supported:
- On-going robust training in Shared Core Practice Model and Trauma Informed Care to strengthen your abilities to support the child and grow your capabilities.

Experience Required for Your Success
As a Residential Childcare Counselor, you will bring:
- A minimum of an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A strong interest in working with children and have the ability to connect and engage with them.
- A valid California driver’s license. Must be able to show driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage.
- Proof of immunization or immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route, including Varicella, MMR, Tdap, & Influenza. Reasonable accommodations to vaccination requirements available to employees who, because of sincerely held religious belief, a medical contraindication, or a disability, do not receive some or all of the required vaccinations.
