We're looking for a
Quality Assurance Technician (Food Manufacturing), working in
Manufacturing industry in
Chicago, Illinois, United States.
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team in the food manufacturing industry. The Quality Assurance Technician will play a critical role in ensuring that our products meet quality and safety standards throughout the production process.
Our current opening is on the 1st shift, with schedules that offer improved work-life balance. Salary is up to $18 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform physical and sensory evaluations of food products, including appearance, texture, flavor, and aroma, to assess overall quality and consistency.
- Collect samples of raw materials, ingredients, and finished products for laboratory testing, microbiological analysis, and shelf-life studies.
- Monitor production processes and equipment to identify and address deviations from established procedures, specifications, or quality parameters.
- Document inspection results, test data, and any non-conformities or deviations in quality control records, batch records, or electronic databases.
- Communicate with production supervisors, operators, and other personnel to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence of defects.
- Conduct internal audits and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) inspections to ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Assist in the investigation of customer complaints, quality incidents, and product recalls by collecting relevant data, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, procedures, and training initiatives to improve product quality, process efficiency, and employee awareness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and procurement, to address quality-related issues, drive continuous improvement, and support new product development initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety and quality assurance through training programs, professional development opportunities, and industry conferences.

Experience Required for Your Success
- Previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, or food safety within the food manufacturing industry is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data, perform statistical analysis, and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with quality management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed to support production schedules, quality initiatives, or special projects
