We're looking for a
Maintenance Assistant, working in
Manufacturing industry in
Village of Bedford Park, Illinois, 60638, United States.
Our Client has immediate openings for experienced Maintenance Assistant at our manufacturing facility conveniently located in Bedford Park, IL. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in industrial maintenance.
Our current openings are on the 2nd Shift [2pm-10pm] and 3rd Shift [10pm-6am] with schedules that offer improved work-life balance. Salary is up to $18 per hour based on qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Assist maintenance technicians in performing routine maintenance tasks on assembly line equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Help with the setup and preparation of tools, equipment, and materials needed for maintenance and repair activities.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Assist in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of machinery and components as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
- Support preventive maintenance programs by documenting maintenance activities, updating equipment logs, and maintaining inventory of spare parts and supplies.
- Participate in safety training sessions and adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in maintenance areas, including tool cribs, workstations, and storage areas.
- Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints to understand equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team and assist if needed to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and minimize equipment downtime.
- Take initiative to learn new skills and technologies related to maintenance and repair work through on-the-job training and self-directed learning.

Experience Required for Your Success
- High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment in a technical school program or vocational training in maintenance-related field is a plus
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and/or pneumatic systems, gained through coursework, vocational training, or previous work experience
- Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in industrial maintenance, with a passion for hands-on work
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to following instructions and safety procedures
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as required by maintenance tasks
- Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and maintenance activities
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities
