We're looking for a Radiation Therapist, working in Healthcare Systems and Services industry in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Job Summary:A Radiation Therapist administers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. They are responsible for ensuring the accurate delivery of radiation therapy while prioritizing patient care and safety throughout the treatment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition.
  2. Patient Preparation: Position patients correctly for radiation treatment sessions, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility in alignment with treatment plans.
  3. Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, to deliver prescribed radiation doses to targeted areas while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
  4. Radiation Delivery: Administer radiation treatments according to established protocols and treatment plans, following strict safety procedures to protect patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  5. Patient Education: Educate patients about their treatment procedures, potential side effects, and self-care techniques to manage symptoms and maintain their overall well-being during and after treatment.
  6. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatment sessions, patient progress, and any observed side effects or reactions to radiation therapy.
  7. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance programs and routine equipment checks to ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including radiation oncologists, nurses, medical physicists, and dosimetrists, to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  9. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including equipment malfunctions or adverse patient reactions during treatment sessions.
  10. Continuing Education: Stay abreast of advances in radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and safety protocols through ongoing training and professional development activities.

Experience Required for Your Success

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
  • Certification from an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • Valid state licensure as a Radiation Therapist.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
